Information for State AC's

As you’re most likely aware, MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in not just our nation, but in the world.  And while an individual may practice some or many of the martial arts systems that make up MMA, this does not necessarily mean they are familiar with the MMA Unified Rules of Conduct (MMAURC).  Often, in spite of their martial arts training and enthusiasm, even the most ardent MMA-trained fighter or professional may not be qualified to serve as an MMA referee.

Consequently, the dilemma for most state athletic commissions that sanction MMA is:  “how do we determine who is, or who is not, qualified to referee MMA fights?”  This is especially true if MMA has been previously outlawed in your state – how have local residents been exposed to fight events, giving them an opportunity to referee them and learn the MMAURC? To Certify an applicant, it's important you find out:

If your applicants have the knowledge it takes to be a qualified MMA referee, and are not just an ex-boxing or a martial arts tournament judge!

If an applicant has the skills, training and ability to be licensed to ref MMA fights.

  Where have they trained?

In what martial art system have they trained, and how do you verify that training?

If an applicant knows what it takes to control the ring.

Let's face it - MMA Ref's need to be trained.

In essence, potential MMA referee applicants should be well-versed in the MMAURC.  And the best way to make sure they know the rules, and then confirm their knowledge and ability, is to require they take a workshop that teaches the rules and regulations which are specific to MMA.

Potential MMA referees can learn the RIGHT way to ref through the Elite MMA Referees’ Online Workshop!  This Workshop helps prepare your referees by:

Training them to call the fight – the RIGHT way!

Teaching them the essential skills every licensed referee MUST KNOW.

Educating them on the rules and regulations that make up mixed martial arts.

Giving your potential ref’s the information, skills and ability to become an officially licensed MMA Referee.

Do you want your MMA Ref's to be qualified to ref sanctioned fights?

If you’re interested in making sure the individuals who apply for MMA referee certification in your state are qualified and know the basic rules and regulations of the MMAURC, then we can help.  Our online Workshop – the only one of its kind – can be seamlessly modified and incorporated into your state’s website, so you can offer this course as a mandatory Workshop for all potential referees.

The cool part? You have options! The state can choose to maintain full control over the site, or retain ELITE MMA Referees to help manage the site and Workshop participants – the choice is yours. Other options are available as well.

Here’s the difference between this program, and others that are available out there. With ELITE MMA Referees, you can:

  Purchase the rights to this online Workshop training system;

You don’t need to go to the expense of paying for a group of trainers to fly in to your state, and spend a week training potential MMA referees (for example:  what if a potential trainee is unable to make that workshop – would they then have to wait 6 months or a year ‘til the next one?)

Your potential MMA ref's don't have to fly to another state, pay for a hotel room, take an expensive training class - all at their own expense. (Who can afford to do that in today's economy?)

You can actually charge your potential ref’s a nominal fee (or more) to take the Workshop online – and bring in revenue for the state. The state can set the price for the workshop. You can then use that revenue to perhaps fund a collegiate wrestling program, emergency medical benefits for MMA fighters, or to offset the costs of pre-fight medicals for fighters!

  The choices are endless!

Look - if someone wants to ref MMA fights - they sure don't want to do it because they think they're going to get rich. They want to do it 'cause they love the sport and want to be involved. Chances are they'd like to fight, but are unable to for some reason...so ref'ing is the next best thing. Finally - most potential ref's will tell you they want to make sure fighters are well-protected. Better to certify someone who wants to ref the sport because it's what they love to do, instead of someone who is just doing it to make a name for themselves and make money. Aren't those the kind of people you want to Certify in your state?
